Why do I choose Kombucha for my first blog post of the year? Well, I always derive all my content from some type of inspiration…This past year I was inspired and impressed by a 19-year-old young lady. She impressed me by her knowledge of healthy living, self-care and she recognized my kombucha bottle and knew why I drank it! Best of all we share the same favorite flavor!!!
So…what is Kombucha?
Kombucha is made using black or green tea, two drinks that already pack many health benefits. The tea is then fermented by adding bacteria and yeast, allowing for cultures to grow over weeks creating large amounts of bacteria including lactic acid.
What are the benefits?
The healthy bacteria found in kombucha can improve digestion and help with inflammation, as well as providing defense against harmful bacterias. It can improve cholesterol levels to fight against heart disease by preventing LDL cholesterol oxidation. Kombucha can also help with Type 2 Diabetes by reducing blood sugar and insulin levels and improving kidney and liver function. The antioxidants kombucha contains helps to both protect against disease as well as with detoxification. Antioxidants work to neutralize free radicals in your body, which are highly reactive and potentially harmful. They also help with detoxification, giving support to your liver!

Kombucha has been consumed for centuries for its health benefits and healing properties and is thought to originate in Asia but was also popular in eastern Europe. Plain herbal teas are a health cornerstone in many cultures, but kombucha packs in even more health boosters including probiotics and antioxidants.

Kombucha has become increasingly popular over the years and it now can be found in any local grocery store. You can even make your own kombucha at home with a home brewing kit! A tasty, bubbly drink that comes with many health benefits, kombucha can be enjoyed by everyone.
